Patch 1.01 Now Available

Postby mark » Thu Feb 02, 2012 9:06 pm

Patch 1.01 should now be available on Impulse.
This patch adds several new features and fixes some gameplay issues.

New features:
    - Added game speed control in 'Options->Game' menu. (Note faster speeds use more CPU).
    - Added auto-scan to scout bots (with a button to toggle on/off). If a scout is near an ore patch it will auto initiate a scan. This is helpful when sending out scouts to find expansion locations.
    - Added new option to display small unit health bars
    - Added option to toggle display of bot level, also bot levels only show if greater than 0
    - You can now delete saved games from the Load/Save menu
Bug fixes:
    - On windows XP long user names and profile names can crash the game when loading/saving
    - Unit control count is wrong a fabricator is destroyed while bots are still building
    - Rig mining bug - wrong amount subtracted from patch (NET instead of GROSS)
    - Bot SHIELDS don't LOAD/SAVE
    - Bot hull upgrade issue
    - New profile difficulty setting was not showing correctly in the Options->Game menu

Is the bot hull upgrade issue at all related to bots not healing when they level up when they have shields?

My bots go up in levels but just the shield tops off each time, not their hull.

Hull upgrades (which are supposed to increase health 10% each level) were getting applied multiple times in many cases. Bot level ups were probably a bit messed up too. The shields don't get restored after a level up but each level a bot gets 10% more health and the health is fully restored. This all should work properly in the patch.

Also the patch adds two new hotkey functions, incspeed and decspeed, to control game speed.
Add the following lines to your hotkeys.cfg file:

Code: Select all
keyboard_map      +         incspeed
keyboard_map      -         decspeed

Make sure you add these lines BEFORE the end of file EOF marker.
This allows you to increase or decrease the game speed using the numpad + and - keys.

Note: the user hotkeys file are located here:
C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local\Star Prospector\hotkeys.cfg

OR if you are on XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\<USERNAME>\Local Settings\Application Data\Star Prospector\hotkeys.cfg

And we really thank all of the people in the forums for their feedback and suggestions. We plan on continuing to add new features and content in the future.

Something still buggy with the rig mining a lode. Loaded latest saved game after updating the game and just to test, told the rig to mine a 50% lode and was only getting 1 ore per 4 which is only about 25%... Tried it on the next mission and got same results.

So either the attempted fix on the rig mining didn't work or it has something to do with my using a saved game.

The Rig gets 50% after the yield has been applied.
That's why mining with the Rig is deemed "inefficient".
    red --> 0.5 yield * 0.5 = 0.25 (or 1 in 4)
    green --> 0.75 yield * 0.5 = 0.375
    blue --> 1.0 yield * 0.5 = 0.5
Quarry bots don't get the 50% penalty so there is no wasted ore.

Ok, my bad, I thought rig mining was just inefficient because it was slow; did not realize the rig actually had a penalty. Thanks for the fast response.

Had another weird bot count thing happen on the saved game I had right before the patch. I was about to save before taking a break last night but had directed a bot to head to the upgrader. Instead of letting the bot enter the upgrader, I told hm to stop outside it since I knew if I upgraded his shields, they'd be gone when I loaded the game today. So when I saved, there was no bot in the upgrader but a level zero bot standing next to it and I had 6 other bots for a total of 7. With one control node built, I was good at 7 of 7.

Today when I loaded the game, I had that one bot standing next to the upgrader but one was also in the upgrader. I was at 8 of 7 on bots now, too. I told the upgrader to cancel so the bot would leave it and when it did, the bot that had been standing next to the upgrader poofed but I was still listed as 8 of 7 on total bots.

My poor scout had to die to fix the count.
